Beauty - Overlooking Ventura
Downward To The Pacific Ocean

BEAUTY CAMPBELL STYLE
Declaring 2010 Earth Year
Start Small, Start Local,
Go Big, Go Global

By: Mary Campbell

Beauty is found all around us and with earth month over; and a lot of good work done; we need to remember that Mother Earth loves every month. This is our only world and we need to remember to take care of it year round so it'll be beautiful for years and years to come. This past month I personally participated in three local beach clean ups, helped raise money for the surfrider foundation, and picked up trash along the way every time I went for a walk. I was pretty proud of myself until I realized that the rest of the year long, I'm inactive in the preservation of our earth. It's easy to be "green" during earth month.

I urge you readers to make 2010 EARTH YEAR. Think of the results of each time we went for a walk on the beach, we took a bag and picked up after others who left trash behind. When your walking on the street and you see that piece of trash floating along the sidewalk, pick it up and put it in the trashcan. If you choose to only do picking up after others intermittently on your walks, that'll help, too. Every little bit helps for preserving the beauty we have in our community.

Ventura is a gorgeous place to live, which is why most live here. People flock here to see our beaches, downtown, harbor, hills, museum, mission, and the like which helps keep our community lively and thriving. With everyone being affected by these trying times, we need to be able to look the beautiful things for inspiration. By being proactive in the care of our community and our world, we'll be able to continue to call our home "paradise."

Part of ones beautiful character grows by living in the surroundings of a beautiful earth. By inspiring one other person, we can change the world. START SMALL, START LOCAL, GO BIG, GO GLOBAL.

HEATH CAMPBELL STYLE
Six Steps
To A Healthier-Happier You

By: Mary Campbell

We've all seen and heard the phrase "Live. Laugh. Love." My Aunt Jeannie felt they were words to live by and I agree. I just was introduced to a new phrase that feels like it's just as important. "Explore. Experience. Evolve." I decided to place these phrases together and created a six-step plan to making you healthier and happier.

LIVE. Up and at um. Letting life pass you by is a "no, no". Enjoy the little things that can make your life brighter. Get up and out of the house and play a little. Sometimes thirty minutes of fun can be part of your exercise regimen. We all know that exercise is essential to health and longevity.

LAUGH. We've all heard that laughter is the best medicine and it's the truth. Laughter has many benefits physically and emotionally. It can relax the body by relieving tension and stress. It releases endorphins, our bodies "feel good" source. Laughter has social benefits as well by increasing social bonding and is great in enhancing team work.

LOVE. Loving and being loved is a great feeling; and, love can be spread around to even those we yet to know. Spread love by volunteering and you'll feel the rush of helping someone and in turn you help yourself. Doing things once in awhile to make sure someone else feels loved is all one needs to keep one's mind and spirit up and positivity is key for health and happiness.

EXPLORE. By exploring our own habits, behaviors and beliefs, we can better determine what we need in our lives to keep us healthy and happy. In this exploration process, one truly learns about oneself and how to focus on one's own life. This positive journey results in spiritual, emotional and mental growth plus well-being and character building. Thereby, we have more to offer others.

Then there is the learning to communicate and express what our own needs are. In doing so, it gives us the gift of adding to our own lives and then to enable us to share it with others. I know when I help someone increase their health or happiness that it is contagious; I get a little bit of that goodness for myself too.

EXPERIENCE. Experience the world around you. Be open, courageous and participate to the fullest. Find a new game or sport and play it with friends who are ready to learn it with you. Reach beyond your comfort zone and find a road you've never been on before. Then enjoy the secrets and/or journey it has to offer you. Take photos and share them with a friend. Get lost in a city on purpose; you'll be amazed at what you can find. It's all the little things that we forget about that are so important to our well being.

EVOLVE. With every discovery you make, really try to implement that into your life. Adjust and fine tune as needed for success. Doing the same thing over and over destines us to repeat our same mistakes. Moving forward is a goal that is necessary for a long and happy life!
